Despite what was a poor weather forecast, we set out on Friday September 17th for Ganges on Salt Spring Island. This was a planned weekend with the crew of Bunbury who had been before and enjoyed it there. We lucked out that it was not raining while crusing there and in fact had light winds across Georgia Straight (or should I say the Salish Sea) and calm winds and tides through Active Pass. Nice!
We used our Nexus cards to clear into Canadian waters and had no problem. We were tied up at the Ganges Marina dock by 5:30pm and enjoyed a rain free “Happy Hour” with good boating friends.
Saturday Morning was spent at the Ganges open market and then we walked up the hill for the annual “Fall Fair”
We even had little visitors on the boat for a while!
Although we had lots of rain both nights , the rain held off for most of the days and for our cruise home. All in all a great weekend.
I highly recommend the blueberry/mango pie at the Fall Fair…. See you next year !!
